Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about tours, bookings, or documents? We've gathered answers to the most common questions to make your trip as smooth and worry-free as possible.

  • 1. What months are best for planning this trip?

This trip can be planned for any month of the year. The best time to go is from mid-June to mid-September — during this period, most attractions operate on their “summer” schedule, meaning extended opening hours and more open days. In addition, the long daylight hours will allow you to see more. On the downside, it can be hot, and accommodation prices are usually higher. Spring and autumn are also great seasons for this journey. Winter can be more challenging, as some hiking trails included in the itinerary may require more skill from travelers, and snow is possible in the mountains and foothills (for example, in Andorra).

  • 2. How much does this route depend on the weather?

Weather only matters during the hiking portions of the route — walking the trails in rain is not as pleasant as on a dry day. However, the route can be completed in almost any weather, so we did not include extra buffer days in case of bad weather. Additionally, this region enjoys a large number of sunny days, so the chances of encountering truly bad weather are minimal.

  • 3. What should be done before the trip begins?

Before starting the trip, you need to purchase tickets to and from Barcelona, book a car, arrange accommodation for the entire route, and secure tickets for certain attractions. If you haven’t already, it is recommended to install the Uber and Bolt taxi apps and link a bank card that works in Spain. It’s also advisable to read this guide in full, decide on visiting optional sights, and pay special attention to important notes highlighted in the itinerary.

  • 4. Is it possible to complete this route without a car, using public transport?

No, this particular route is designed to be done by car. Some sections of the itinerary simply cannot be covered by public transport. If you need a public transport–friendly route, we can prepare a customized itinerary for you that considers this factor along with all your other preferences.

  • 5. Where can I get a car for this route, and what type is suitable?

You can rent a car from any rental company in Spain that operates at the starting point of the route (Barcelona, preferably picking up the vehicle in the city near your hotel). You can also arrive with your own car. Since some sections of the route include gravel roads, it is best to rent a car with high ground clearance and all-wheel drive.

  • 6. Is the itinerary strict about wake-up and bedtime?

Yes. At the start of each day, we indicate the recommended time to begin the route. This is usually optimized to match the opening and closing hours of the attractions we plan to visit. It often also aligns with daylight hours — in Spain, the time zone means sunrise is relatively early and sunset is not too late — so it’s highly recommended to wake up and go to bed earlier during the trip.

  • 7. What meals are included in the itinerary?

The trip generally follows a pattern of a hearty breakfast, a light lunch, and a full dinner. Breakfast usually has no strict recommendations — you can have it at the hotel or in any café you like (if there are interesting options nearby, they are listed in the itinerary). For lunch, you can prepare something in the morning or the night before to take with you (picnic sets, sandwiches, snacks, etc.). If there are notable lunch spots along the route, these are also mentioned. For dinner, in each overnight location we provide recommendations for the best local restaurants serving authentic regional cuisine.

  • 8. Is the route suitable for traveling with children?

The itinerary is ideal for children aged 8–10 and older, and it includes plenty of locations they may find exciting — castles, parks, caves, attractions, and more. For younger children, the decision is left to the parents, who know their child’s abilities and needs best. Very young children may find some of the hikes challenging.

  • 9. What level of physical fitness is required?

The route is not very demanding physically. It includes walks with small elevation gains that most people can handle easily. If hiking for 5–6 hours in nature is difficult for you, there are shorter hiking options built into the itinerary. No special skills (mountaineering, rock climbing, etc.) are required. If you have a fear of heights, there is one location where it might be an issue, but we have included alternative options for it.

  • 10. Is this route suitable for travelers with limited mobility?

No. The route involves many steep stairs, old buildings, and uneven terrain. Unfortunately, not all locations are accessible for travelers with disabilities. However, we can prepare a special adapted route upon request.

  • 11. What should I bring for this trip?

We recommend comfortable, sturdy footwear for walking (preferably trekking shoes or at least sneakers), weather-appropriate clothing, hats, light backpacks, and sunscreen. No other special gear or equipment is required to complete this route.

  • 12. How were the locations for the itinerary selected, and why were some things left out?

During the preparation of the itinerary, we studied an enormous number of places, opportunities, materials, reviews, and recommendations. The route was also thoroughly tested in person. Some attractions were excluded because there are already similar, more interesting sites along the route. Some intriguing spots are too far from the main route — including them would require large detours, making it impossible to fit in other places. Quite a few locations were removed after testing, when we confirmed that they evoked less emotion than others. We understand that everyone’s tastes are different, and some travelers may find the excluded spots more appealing than those included. For such cases, we can create a custom itinerary or you can use this ready-made route as a base to adapt for yourself.

  • 13. Isn’t the itinerary overloaded? Will there be enough time for everything?

We believe that while traveling, most people want to experience more and see as much as possible. Physical rest, sleeping in, and doing nothing can be enjoyed at home — not after flying to another country. That’s why we align the schedule with daylight hours and aim to fill each day with experiences. Thanks to optimal logistics and well-thought-out timing, we manage to see at least 1.5–2 times more than an average unprepared traveler, and without rushing. There’s still time to enjoy park and mountain walks, study architectural details, or take photos at leisure. All included attractions can realistically be visited and appreciated at a relaxed pace — we’ve tested it.

  • 14. Does this itinerary include beach time?

The itinerary was designed to be year-round, so there are no dedicated days or hours for beach holidays. That said, we do visit some excellent beaches and several of Spain’s best coastlines (for example, Costa Brava or Costa Dorada), so in the right season and with good weather, there will be time to swim and sunbathe a little. If you’d like more, you can add as many beach days as you want before or after the route. Alternatively, we can adjust the itinerary to fit all your wishes.

  • 15. How should I use this itinerary?

Before your trip, it’s essential to read the itinerary in full and take all necessary steps in advance (bookings, ticket prepayments, etc.). While traveling, we recommend studying the plan for the next day each evening.

  • 16. Can I change parts of this itinerary?

Yes, you can take the ready-made itinerary as a base and modify it however you wish — removing places you find less interesting and adding new ones. However, be cautious, as in that case, you will need to recalculate logistics and timing yourself.

  • 17. Can the itinerary start somewhere other than Barcelona?

Barcelona is the most convenient starting point for this route, with its large airport and many car rental companies. However, you can also start in Valencia, Zaragoza, or any other city along the way — the circular route makes this possible. In that case, the order of the days will simply change. For example, if starting from Madrid by car, it’s convenient to begin in Zaragoza (Day 8). If coming from Andalusia or Murcia — start in Valencia (Day 6). If coming from France — start in Andorra (Day 11) or Girona (Day 14).

  • 18. Can I change the order of attractions within a single day?

The order of visits each day has been carefully chosen for optimal route flow. Changing the order may result in not having enough time, arriving at a site before it opens and having to wait, or missing some places entirely because they’re closed by the time you arrive. Therefore, we do not recommend altering the sequence. If you do, you’ll need to calculate all consequences yourself.

  • 19. Can this route be done in fewer days?

Yes, if you cut down the number of locations visited. For instance, you could skip one day in Barcelona, the Day 10 hike, and Girona with Costa Brava on the last day — that already saves three days. You could also remove certain sections of the route. We recommend not doing this on your own, but contacting us to create a customized itinerary that fits your needs and preferences.

  • 20. Can this route be extended to more days?

Absolutely. If you want to stay longer in certain places and have the time for it, it’s easy to arrange. You can add extra days in Barcelona, Valencia, or Zaragoza, explore more routes in the Pyrenean foothills, visit more medieval towns, walk among ancient Catalonian volcanoes, or spend a couple of extra days relaxing on the beaches. The only thing we recommend is not breaking up existing planned days, but instead inserting additional days between them.

  • 21. Can you create a separate itinerary just for me?

Yes, gladly. We can prepare either a heavily modified version of this route or an entirely new one based on exactly what you want to see and experience. Your pace, your preferences, your interests — everything will be factored into the new itinerary, thoroughly calculated and optimized. Naturally, this will require additional time to prepare and will involve an extra cost.

  • 22. Can you fully organize this trip for us based on this route?

Yes, no problem. We can select the best hotels for you according to your requests, book and purchase all tickets, arrange transportation, and, if needed, provide local guides or a coordinator to accompany you throughout the route. Contact us and we’ll handle everything in the most optimal way, saving you both time and money.
